What a Charleston bachelor party actually costs

Updated September 2026

$1,545 to $2,559 a man for three nights with twelve guys, before flights. Add about $404 for a round trip into CHS and you get $1,949 to $2,963 all in. Charleston is the second most expensive destination in this guide after Pinehurst, and golf is why.

Kiawah does not charge a caddie fee, and that is not the same as free

The Ocean Course has no published rate. You call. Best current estimate is around $600 a round in peak season, running $550 to $650 for resort guests.

The part people miss is the caddie. Kiawah charges no caddie fee at all, which sounds like a saving until you read the next line: the recommended gratuity is $120 per player for a walking caddie or $60 for a forecaddie. That is not a fee, so nobody quotes it to you, and it is also not optional in any practical sense.

Budget $660 to $770 a man for the round including the tip. One useful thing: you do not have to be a resort guest to play. Non guests book up to sixty days out, resort guests can book anytime for their stay.

Two boats, not one

Inshore charters out of Shem Creek run about $700 for a half day with five anglers and $900 for six hours. The constraint is that the boats cap at six passengers.

Twelve guys is two boats, so $1,400 to $1,800 for the group, or $117 to $150 a man. Mate gratuity is on top and no operator publishes a convention for it, so assume the usual 15 to 20 percent.

Kiawah is not in Charleston

The peninsula is genuinely walkable and you will not need a car downtown. Kiawah is twenty five miles out, thirty five to forty five minutes each way.

Rideshare on the island is unreliable, with fifteen to twenty minute waits in busy periods and worse for the trip back. Pre book a car service at $80 to $120 per vehicle, and at twelve guys that is two vehicles each way on golf day. That is what the getting around line in the table is.

The cheap months are the good months, and the expensive months are a gamble

January and February run $150 to $250 a night against $300 to $500 in spring. That is a 40 to 50 percent saving and the golf is still playable.

Spring, March through May, and fall, September through November, are both peak. Fall is the problem. Hurricane season runs to the end of November with peak risk in August and September, which sits directly on top of the autumn price peak. You are paying the most in the window with the highest chance of the trip not happening.

June through August is the one to avoid outright. Upper eighties, extreme humidity and daily afternoon thunderstorms.
